 ache Indian is the stage name of dancehall/reggae/pop singer Steven Kapur 
 who is best known for his iconic international hit "Boom Shack-A-Lak"\nHe 
 introduced a combination of traditional Indian bhangra music with the styl
 e of ragamuffin\, pop\, and rap\, the mix-up often known as bhangramuffin.
 \nApache Indian is the only Asian to date to have seven Top 40 Hits on the
  mainstream British charts: Boom Shack-A-Lak\, Arranged Marriage\, Chok Th
 ere\, Fe Real\, Raggamuffin Girl\, Wreckx Shop\, Make Way for the Indian.\
 nIn his recent albums\, he moved away from Indian ragamuffin rap style to 
 explore more traditional forms of reggae.\nApache Indian has recorded with
  Boyz II Men\, Blackstreet\, Wreckx 'n' Effect\, UB40\, Sean Paul\, Maxi P
 riest\, General Levy\, Shaggy\, Yami Bolo\, Boy George\, A.R. Rahman\, Sam
 eera Singh and Pras of the Fugees.\nFor his first album "No Reservation"\,
  he had signed a contract worth £250\,000 pounds with Island Records - on
 e of the largest sums paid for a debut album by a non-white artist.\n"Boom
  Shack-A-Lak" has been featured in five different Hollywood movies\, inclu
 ding "Dumb And Dumber". More significantly\, the song has been featured in
  a record 52 commercials across the globe\, featuring various brands.\nNow
  it features on the "Scooby Doo 2" soundtrack\, along with international n
 ames like Fatboy Slim\, The B-52's\, 2 Unlimited\, and New Radicals.\nHis 
 composition "Om Namah Shivay" also features on Putumayo World Music World

 m around the world.\nApache Indian was nominated for an Ivor Novello Award
  for best contemporary song for "Arranged Marriage"\, and nominated for a 
 Mercury Music Prize for his debut album No Reservations in 1993.\nApache I
 ndian was also nominated for the Central Britain Media and Arts Asian Jewe
 l Award in 2004. Apache was presented an award at the Asian Media Awards i
 n Manchester for his talk show Real Talk in 2013 and in 2014 he received t
 he Lifetime Achievement Award also at the Asian Media Awards. In late 2014
 \, Apache received a lifetime achievement award from Brit Asia TV.\nHe was
  awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2021 New Year's Honours for servi
 ces to music and young people and performed at the closing ceremony for th
 e 2022 Commonwealth Games in his hometown of Birmingham.
