  fundamentalists\, exuberant luddites\, willing outcasts.\n\n“The Mekons
  are the most revolutionary group in the history of rock ‘n’ roll” 
 – wrote rock critic Lester Bangs\n\nThe genre-defying Mekons formed in L
 eeds\, England in 1977. Born from the emerging British punk scene\, they p
 rogressed from art students with no musical skills to the prolific\, rauco
 us progeny of Hank Williams. This current classic line-up has remained int
 act since the mid-1980s\, continuing to regularly tour and release new mus
 ic through to now. Theirs is an improbable history – a surprising and in
 fluential embrace of folk and country music with occasional forays into th
 e art world. They have always worked collaboratively and collectively with
  all work credited to the band\, never to individuals. Their mind-boggling
  output consistently blurs the lines between high art and low and has incl
 uded exhibitions in the UK and US\, a deranged pirate musical recorded and
  staged with Kathy Acker\, an art performance with Vito Acconci\, and seve
 ral books including the unique art catalog/unfinished novel Mekons United.
  “Revenge of the Mekons”\, a documentary about the band received natio
 nwide release in 2015 on Music Box Films. The Mekons continue to make bold
 \, unpredictable music while staying true to the punk ethos. Their mind-bo
 ggling output consistently blurs the lines between high art and low and th
 ey remain one of the truly great live bands.\n\nTheir last album “Exquis
 ite” was recorded completely remotely during the early months of lockdow
 n and released on Bandcamp in June 2020. The band are working with Fire Re
 cords on their new album which comes out in 2025. The single from that alb
 um “You’re Not Singing Anymore” will be released on Fire Records in

 upport from Robert Coyne (born 1969) is a British alternative folk musicia
 n and singer-songwriter. He plays guitar\, bass\, keyboards\, drums and si
 ngs.\nCoyne is the son of the musician\, painter and author Kevin Coyne\, 
 who died in 2004. In Germany Robert and his vocalist brother Eugene\, the 
 sons of Coyne’s first marriage\, appeared on some of their father’s re
 cordings including Tough And Sweet (1993) and Sugar Candy Taxi (1999). As 
 a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist\, Robert eventually joined his fathe
 r’s band and contributed to several further albums\, including Room Full
  of Fools (2000)\, Carnival (2002)\, Donut City (2004) and One Day In Chic
 ago (2005\, with Jon Langford and the Pine Valley Cosmonauts).\n\nCoyne ha
 s also worked as a musician with Eric Burdon\, The Barracudas\, The Scient
 ists\, Amy Rigby\, Spooky Tooth\, Sky Saxon and Chris Wilson of the Flamin
