Sundays in the Bar
Our Sundays in the Bar project uncovered...
Con Club regulars will remember that once upon a time there used to be music in the bar every Sunday afternoon, but eventually and rather sadly it faded away until it stopped completely. But many people missed it and so, 18 months or so ago, a plot was hatched by club members and musicians Kate Turvey and John Marsh to reinstate it, but on a more-manageable, once-a-month basis. Named "Sundays in the Bar" and held every last Sunday of the month (except during the August holidays), the idea was and still is to create a true club atmosphere with an eclectic mix of good quality live music, where both the artists and the audience really get to communicate with each other - sort of Unplugged and Up-Close. As a quieter, more intimate complement to the full-on music nights in the function room, with an emphasis on the community nature of the club.
It's proved a great success, with artists such as Mike Newsham, The Contenders (unplugged), Steve Parsons of Sharks fame, Hanna Burchell (from the Fold), Talitha Rise, Arcelia and many more, giving memorable performances to packed houses.
Last Sunday of the month 3:30 - 5:30 pm FREE ENTRY All Welcome. Don't miss it!
