MARKUS BIRDMAN, OMID SINGH, ALEX KEALY, RICHARD SPALDING - SPECIAL GUEST MC SALLY-ANNE HAYWARD

We're back again! For 9th Year! What the hell is wrong with us?! Anyway, we aren't letting up on the comedy assault this Autumn, as these acts and special guest MC are making clear.
Come join us, and cheer yourself up as the leaves come down.

SPECIAL GUEST MC SALLY-ANNE HAYWARD combines the things you shouldn't like about your best friend's mum with the sensibilities of Jack the Ripper. An accomplished radio presenter with stage and TV acting credentials ('Absolutely Fabulous' BBC, 'Why the Long Faces' Square Donkey Productions, and TV warm-up for 'Deal or No Deal' Channel 4), Sally-Anne's confident persona and quick wit have rapidly made her a much sought-after comedian. She's a regular compere at Glastonbury Festival, and a keenly anticipated turn on the UK comedy circuit. Sally-Anne is an award-winning comedian (Holsten Pils 'Fans of Comedy' award) and a sought-after corporate performer (with clients including Orange and Alcatel).

She has proven her writing talents with numerous Edinburgh Fringe shows and can display a depth of material that marks out the best comic talent. She has performed all over the world and has provided tour support for Sarah Millican, Russell Howard and Russell Kane. Chortle praised her "bubbly stream of comedy anecdotes" and "butter wouldn't melt in her mouth" style. BBC London Live simply called her 'fabulous'.

MARKUS BIRDMAN Amused Moose Best Show @ Edinburgh Festival Nominee 2015 NZ Comedy Guild Nominee - Best International Act 2014 Time Out London - Top Ten Comedians 2013 Netflix Special - Live from Amsterdam

"Birdman is the all-round package; witty, controversial, hip, topical, silly. A master of timing and physical comedy, he made me laugh so hard it hurt." BBC

“Probably the most absorbing show I’ve seen. Completely spell-binding." Chortle

OMID SINGH Born to an Iranian mother and Indian father, Omid Singh is one of the top multicultural comics working today. Not that he considers himself a public symbol or boundary-breaker. As he puts it onstage, “I don’t do anything scary when I go to the airport…but I do like to see how far I can walk away from my luggage.”

Singh’s childhood found him living in far-flung locations ranging from San Diego, ten years in Dubai, a year in fiercely conservative Katy, Texas, and back to the West Coast with addresses across Orange County. After hosting his fifth-grade talent show and participating in Comedy Sportz’s High School League, at 16 Omid produced his own stand-up night (for which he admittedly borrowed plenty of Eddie Izzard material). His participation in a 2008 Ice House comedy contest – this time with 100 percent original jokes – hooked him for life.

Despite experiencing stereotyping and even bullying, Singh doesn’t use his unique upbringing as a crutch. As he sees it, celebrating diversity allows him to connect with every type of audience imaginable.

Singh spent his developmental years in New York City. There he studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade, performed on 2011’s New York Comedy Festival, and was featured in Ben Affleck’s 2012 thriller Argo. Fun fact: In a scene depicting Iranians rushing the American Embassy, extras aren’t wielding U.S. baseball bats thanks to his outspoken fact-checking. 2013 short film Subway, based on his material about a post-workout commute gone awry, was voted the Audience Award winner at the annual No Budget Film Festival.

Now making his home in Los Angeles, Singh was a featured speaker at 2015’s Golden West College Peace Conference. With fellow comedian Jeffrey Baldinger he co-created storytelling gameshow Story Poker, which in 2017 received international acclaim at Scotland’s long-running Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The pair envision expanding the Story Poker podcast into an ESPN-style online series and eventually a home boardgame.

ALEX KEALY is a stand-up comedian who mixes political material with self-deprecation and relatable observations. He reached the final of the prestigious So You Think You're Funny competition in his first year of performing and is now a "rising star of the British stand-up scene" (The List) .

He has taken three hours of stand-up to the Edinburgh Fringe, the latest being 2018's A Kealy's Heel - "a storming show" (The Sunday Times) which was met with full rooms and critical acclaim. Other work includes writing for BBC Two's Mock The Week.

“A storming show from the whimsical funnyman” - The Sunday Times
“This is clever comedy...you’ve done yourself some internal damage from laughing so much” ★★★★ - Shortcom
“Excellent writing...very funny...Kealy has undoubted potential” - Chortle

RICHARD SPALDING was a finalist in The Stand “Get-Up, Stand-Up” New Act Competition 2018…Rich Spalding is a polite male comedian. Originally from the Midlands, he’s been living in London for nearly three years and performing comedy for around half that time. He performs regularly in London, at venues such as Backyard Comedy and Angel. He’s been a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny and Leicester Square New Comedian.
