Anthony Toner Acclaimed Northern Ireland songwriter Anthony Toner makes his Chalk House Sessions debut as part of a busy year of live shows across the UK. Based in Belfast, Toner has spent the past decade building a devoted following in Scotland and England, following a string of tours as special guest to folk legend Barbara Dickson, alongside numerous acclaimed folk club appearances in his own right. With songs such as Sailortown and The Road to Fivemiletown, he has earned a reputation as one of Belfast’s most respected singer-songwriters and guitarists, with 15 albums released to date. A true craftsman, Toner brings together superb acoustic fingerstyle guitar, finely observed storytelling, and songs rich with heart and insight. His sets are often peppered with well-chosen covers, traditional Irish tunes, the occasional blues number, and—when the moment calls for it—even a favourite poem from Ireland’s great writers.
A devoted live performer, Anthony is delighted to be playing for a new Chalk House audience, and we’re honoured to welcome him.
Support: Jennifer Lee Ridley Emotive songstress Jennifer Lee Ridley crafts poignant, literary folk songs rooted in a deep study of poetry and song. Drawing inspiration from writers such as William Shakespeare and John Keats, alongside songwriters including Sandy Denny and Joni Mitchell, her work bridges classical lyricism with contemporary folk expression. Her dark, warm vocals and distinctive folk sound mirror lyrics that explore the many facets of human emotion, creating music that feels both intimate and expansive. With a reverence for language and form, Jennifer creates modern fusions while carefully preserving the integrity and purity of the words at the heart of each song.
