The Jazz Jamboree Orchestra (JJO) is a Sussex based amateur jazz ensemble directed by trombonist Mark Bassey. It comprises 25-30 musicians – brass, saxes, woodwind, rhythm section and vocalists.
The Orchestra play a delightful mix of jazz and popular music (from Duke Ellington to Abdullah Ibrahim, Simon and Garfunkel, and Freddie Mercury) plus some original compositions – swing, Latin, funky, rocky.
The arrangements are by Mark and other members of the group. The sound of the full orchestra is magnificent, full of warmth and vitality. Come on down to the jamboree…
