Hekatones is the new project from bassist George Berrills (founder of dub group Resonators). Ska, rocksteady, reggae, and dub is merged with influences as expansive as Jazz, Ethio-funk, Gamelan music, Psychedelic Rock and much more. With Resonators, Berrills has shared stages internationally with the likes of The Skatalites, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Jimmy Cliff, and Horace Andy.  With numerous acclaimed releases and airplay on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6Music and Radio 4, their music has been championed by the likes of David Rodigan, Huey Morgan, and Craig Charles.

New instrumental outfit Hekatones is comprised of a stellar rhythm section: Luke Rattenbury (guitar) – An astonishing musician whose love of Jamaican Jazz guitarist Ernest Ranglin sits him perfectly within the group.  Luke plays a myriad of styles lending to his own sound aplomb with groove and attack. Dre Millns (keys) – A natural talent, Dre brings the soul power. He has appeared on innumerable recordings, and tours internationally year-round with reputable reggae bands. Mike Shirley (guitar) – A musician of rare sensitivity, craft, and groove.  Having spent many years with Resonators, he has toured and recorded extensively with many groups of diverse genres. Alex Moody (drums) – Alex is an excellent educator, has toured many years with ska reggae group The Dualers, and has appeared on several Top 40 UK album credits.

The legendary Roots Garden DJs – “Dubwise since 1995” – shall perform on the night, as well as a warm-up DJ set from Hekatones.
